Care & Disclaimer

Knife Care:
While S35VN is stainless, there is always the potential for small rust spots to pop up. Be sure to wipe down your knife after use, and do not store a wet knife in its sheath. If you want the most out of your knife, I recommend keeping it lightly oiled (outside of its sheath) when stored away for an extended period of time. More information on the steels can be found on the Steel Info page.

Sheath Care:
KYDEX HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SCRATCH YOUR KNIFE! If you want a pristine knife, avoid pulling it in and out of its sheath forcefully. Instead, use the thumb ramp to break the knife free from the sheath's retention, as it will not rub up on the kydex aggressively this way. When I press the sheath the blade is covered with several layers of tape, so that the kydex does not rub on the blade. Additionally, I blast out all debris from the sheath with compressed air every step of the way. However if you put a dirty knife into the sheath, particles can become imbedded in your sheath, and cause rapid scratching to the finish. Particles can even be small airborne pieces of sand or dust. Scratches will only be cosmetic and will not affect the performance of the blade. If you would like your knife refinished you can send me an email at anytime and the price will depend on the type of finish, and if there are custom markings.

Sheath Retention
I have played with sheath retention a lot and found what I believe to be the best mixture of retention. When I made sheaths too tight, they scratched blades easily. When I made them too loose there was just not enough retention, but the scratches were kept off. So I found a midground that I implement on all of my sheaths that I am currently making. I now make sheaths with space inside the kydex for the blade to be suspended semi-freely. This means that the blade is not tightly rubbing up against the inner kydex wall, and has some "wiggle" room. The retention is then tightly placed on the handles, and the knife is fully secured in the sheath, without risk of falling out. However since there is some room for movment inside the sheath there will be some minor rattling, but nothing major. This is the only way I have found to make a kydex sheath that doesnt lead to scratching the finish. If you do not care about potential scratches, and wish to have a very tight sheath without any rattling whatsoever, you can mention that in the checkout comments, or email me after placing your order.

Shipping:
All knives will be shipped via USPS, and can be insured for the cost of the blade (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), or sent uninsured. Compliance Edge Knives will not be held responsible for uninsured packages that do not make it to their final destination. A local pick up option is available for those wanting to pick up their knife in person, from San Jose, CA.

Blemishes and Variance:
All of my knives are 100% handmade apart from watterjetting of the blank. No two knives will ever be exact replicas. There will always be small variances from knife to knife. If you are ordering multiple knives, your knives will only fit in their specific sheaths, since the sheath is molded to a particular knife. I strive to eliminate all blemishes, however these knives are handmade, so there may be small grind lines here and there. Nothing excessive will be tolerated.

Warranty:
All knives come with a transferrable lifetime warranty if used for their intended purposes. Scratches and abuse will not be warrantied.
