THE PROCESS

 

The waterjet cut blank. Everything from here is finished by hand.

The blade has been slightly re-shaped, cleaned off, and is sanded to 400 grit.

The blade is now ground and ready for heat treatment.

The blade is now wrapped in a stainless steel foil pouch in order to prevent oxidation during heat treatment.

The blade is put in the oven for heat treatment and is then quenched, cryo'd, and double tempered.

The heat treatment is now done, and the blade is ready for handles and finishing.

The G10 handle material is cut, drilled, and countersunk. The blade has been blasted clean.

The handle material is ground flush to the spine, and is ready for the grinding of the texture.

The handle material is now textured, and hand sanded to a medium polish.

The blade is then finished, in this case the finish was an acid stonewash.

Stencils are made for all of the custom markings, and the logos are electro-chem etched on.

The edge is honed to 800 grit, and is then stropped on a leather belt until it is shaving sharp.
